Ketamine Is One Part of a Broader Care Plan

When someone has been struggling for years, finding another treatment option can create hope.
I understand that.
Individuals seeking treatment are often looking for something different. Ketamine may provide another thoughtfully evaluated treatment option for some participants.
But I do not believe ketamine should be viewed as the entire care plan.
Treatment should focus on the patient, not just the infusion
Mental health is complex. Two people may experience similar symptoms for very different reasons, have very different medical histories and respond differently to the same treatment.
That is why I believe the conversation has to begin with the individual patient.
What treatments have you already tried?
What has helped?
What has not?
Who else is currently involved in your care?
What are you hoping will change?
Those questions matter because responsible treatment is about more than administering medication.
Ketamine can complement existing care
Collaboration with your medical team is important.
For some patients, ketamine may become one component of a larger plan that also includes therapy, medication management, lifestyle changes or other forms of support. The appropriate combination will be different for every patient.
I have the opportunity to see patients differently here. One of the things I value most about my work at New Hope is the opportunity to build relationships with patients. In anesthesiology, I may care for someone during a procedure but have limited opportunity to see what happens in that person’s life afterward.
At New Hope, I am able to follow patients through the treatment process. I can hear how they are doing. I can understand what has changed. I can see where additional support may still be needed.
That continuity is meaningful to me as a physician.
We do not make guarantees
Patients deserve hope. They also deserve honest information. No medical treatment produces the same outcome for every person, and I do not believe in making promises about what ketamine will do for an individual patient.
Instead, I focus on careful evaluation, realistic expectations and responsible treatment. For the right patient, ketamine may offer another path to explore. The role of our office is to determine whether that path is medically appropriate and how it can fit responsibly within the patient’s broader care.
The goal is thoughtful, individualized care
At New Hope Ketamine Clinic, our philosophy is simple. We do not treat an infusion, we treat the person receiving it. That means looking at the patient’s history, understanding their current care and thinking about what happens beyond the time they spend in our office. That is the standard I want every patient who comes through our doors to experience.
